Whiston Brass Band

Whiston Brass Band, 2004

The Band recently made a very successful tour to Josselin in France. Josselin is a very pretty mediaeval town with its own chateau by the river which runs through the town and some very interesting buildings in the town centre. We played concerts at several venues in the town - the Cultural Centre, market square on Market Day, church square and were honoured to play the Last Post at the Memorial where flowers were laid by Vic Smith (veteran) - an extremely moving moment for us.We also played several well-attended concerts in La Gacilly and Ploermel .

Despite our very busy schedule we found time to visit Mont St Michel (that famous 'sandcastle' in the sea), St Malo (a walled mediaeval town and seaport with lovely beaches), and Vannes (yet another mediaeval coastal town with a very busy marina) where the annual Jazz Festival was in progress.

Luckily, the weather was kind to us and apart from one rain shower at St Malo the sun shone every day. Apparently in the weeks up to our arrival the weather had been cold, raining and windy.

This was Whiston Band's first Band Tour but from all the comments received from our members, it will certainly not be the last - in fact plans are already being made for next year's expedition!
