Doles Lane - Doles Lane was probably part of the main highway from Rotherham to Mansfield. In the 1970s when roadworks were being carried out, some 'flat stones' were found, which could possibly have been the road the monks from Roche Abbey used, when they came to Whiston to sell their wares.
