George BANKS, a millwright, was born 1731 at Sheffield. He was the son of Joseph Banks. He married in 1755 to Frances STOCKS (born 1734, Whiston daughter of Michael/Ann) at Whiston. Children:

George BANKS, m. 1793 Whiston to Elizabeth RODDIS, b.1774 Whiston, daughter of James/Ann. Children born Whiston:

James Banks a Millwright was born in 1799. He married in 1822 to Sarah Brown born Sheffield 1803.Children:

In 1871 James and family were living at Moorhouse Lane, Whiston, with grandson James Foers, age 14, a Brass fitter..

By 1881 Sarah Banks,is a widow,is living in Whiston with her daughter Sarah Foers, born 1828 in Whiston, a widow aged 53, and sons of Sarah Foers:

  1. Frank Foers born 1861 at Rotherham, a Brass finisher
  2. Percy Foers, born 1863 Rotherham, a Fender Fitter(Ironmonger)

In 1871 James Banks(b.1826), Blacking Manufacturer (Ink), age 45 was living in Whiston with his wife Mary A. aged 43 from Sheffield. Children:

By 1881 Lucy had left home and the rest of the family were living at 62 Hollowgate, Rotherham. John and Sarah still unmarried.
