George BANKS, a millwright, was born 1731 at Sheffield. He was the son of Joseph Banks. He married in 1755 to Frances STOCKS (born 1734, Whiston daughter of Michael/Ann) at Whiston. Children:

In 1871 James Banks(b.1826), Blacking Manufacturer (Ink), age 45 was living in Whiston with his wife Mary A. aged 43 from Sheffield. Children:
- John age 14, a printers apprentice
- Lucy age 11
- Sarah age 13
By 1881 Lucy had left home and the rest of the family were living at 62 Hollowgate, Rotherham. John and Sarah still unmarried.
