James Bartle married in 1833 at Rotherham to Hannah Merrill. Hannah was the eldest child of Thomas Merrill, born 1778 in Wales, who married in 1810 at Aston to Elizabeth ROWBOTTOM (b.1788 Aston).
Living at 70 Wellgate in 1881:
George BARTLE (son of James and Hannah) born 1835 at Aston, a shopkeeper age 46, his wife Maryiette born 1833 in Whiston and children:
- Sarah E. born 1865 at Whiston
- George born 1867 at Guilthwaite
- Mary A. born 1869 at Guilthwaite
