Whiston Families

Eames

There is no mention of the Eames family in Whiston until the 1891 census.

In 1891
living at 23,Hungril,was Thomas Eames,age 24, a Coal Miner, born Ogley Staffordshire and his wife Maria age 21, born Gainsboro Lincs.

Living at 155 The Green:
Thomas Eames, age 45, a Coal Miner,born Walsall Staffordshire
Elizabeth A Eames,Wife, age 46, born Walsall Staffs.
Agnes Eames,daughter, single age 21, born 1870 Chasetown Staffs.
George H Eames,son, single age 19, Coal Miner, born 1872 Chasetown Staffs. Married Ruth Foers (b.1873) daughter of Benjamin and Ann (Nee Holland) Foers
Guy Eames,son, single age 17,Coal Miner, born 1874 Chasetown Staffs.
Joseph Eames,son,15,Coal Miner,born 1876, Wath West Riding
Frank Eames,son,12,born 1879, Wath Yorks,
Deborah Eames,daughter,6,born 1885, Wath Yorks,
Alvan Eames,son,4,born 1887, Wath Yorks,
Iram Eames,son,1, born Whiston.

From 1901 - 1911, directories list Thomas Eames, a Cart Owner and in 1901, Thomas Eames,jnr, was a Baker.

In the 1911 census there is a Frank Eames age 32, a carter, living at Quarry House. The family ran a wagonette service and the vehicles were kept on Turner Lane, where the Golden Ball Car Park is.

In the following photo, it is thought that the tall slim person on the right of the picture may have been Frank Eames

Members of Eames Family?

In 1948, the Eames had a butcher's shop on Turner Lane. In 1953, Betty Eames (Nee Yarwood) and Jean Wilcox(Nee Eames), were members of the Ladies Cricket Team and in 1957, Kathleen Eames was a pupil at Whiston School.
