He was married to Jane, born about 1832 in Thurlby, Lincolnshire. In 1881, they had 2 children and 2 grandchildren living with them:

Fanny B. unmarried, aged 24, a Milliner, born at Locon Eaton, Bedford
Elisa J. Annison, daughter,aged 23 also born at Locon Eaton, Bedford. Her husband was a Seagoing Engineer
John T. Annison, Grand Son aged 7 months from Sunderland, Durham
Evelyn M. Gilbert, Grand Daughter aged 6 years from Sunderland

On census night they had a visitor, Stephen H. Smiles aged 24, a Seagoing Engineer from Sunderland.
