Gillatt/Gillott
In 1750 William Gillatt, was a stonemason in Whiston and in 1822 another William was a stonemason.
Stone quarrying began in Whiston in the early 1700s. Some of the Whiston Gillotts probably moved to Wickersley where better prospects for quarrying were found. William Gillott was listed in the Wickersley Directory of 1833 as Quarry Owner.
