Charles Martin, a cutler acquired lease for 99 years of a cottage and garden at Whiston on 15 Aug 1787
James Martin was born circa 1802, he married Hannah Newbold from Ulley on 6th September, 1826 at Whiston. They had a daughter Elisabeth, born 3rd December 1826 (IGI)
James was a Music Master and organist at Whiston Parish Church from the 1820's to the 1860's. In 1871, he was living with his wife Hannah D. age 66 . He died in late 1871.
