John Whitehead of Aston - Uncle - All the sheep belonging to the Testor and then being upon his Uncles Farm at Aston and such part of the furniture in his house as belonging to Testor
To said Thomas Staniforth and Joseph Woodhead, their Heirs, Executors etc.. all his Real and Personal Estate of what kind so ever upon Trust to pay unto said
To John Whitehead - Uncle - An annuity of £10 during his life or the Interest of such money as might appear to be due from said John Whitehead to Testor. And upon Trust to pay the rents of his said Real and Personal Estate unto Mary his wife for her life, if so long his Widow lest not otherwise - and after her decease he gave to George Hawkesworth £50
To John Thompson son of Hugh Thompson of Aughton Parish of Aston - Cow wainer - The Residue of his Goods, Chattels, Personal Estate and effects, if living at the decease of his Wife, but if dead he gave same amongst the child and children of Henry Hawkesworth (the father) of Handsworth Woodhouse parish of Handsworth, Publican - who should be then living.


Isaac Rose m. Mary Robinson 06 DEC 1836 Aston

Joseph Rose, son of Isaac and Mary, an Ironworks Manager was born at Aughton in 1838. He was married to Jane, born Westbury, Gloucester, in 1838.

In 1881 they were living with their family at 74 St Anns Rd, Rotherham :

Also at their home on census night was Harold C. CARR, described as a Visitor age 1 born Rotherham

 

In 1911 Mrs.Sarah E.Rose, was a Confectioner, living in Canklow and William Rose, Enginewright, was living at Rosemount,Bawtry Rd, Canklow, Rotherham.

 

Edward and S. E. Rose, were living in Swallownest around 1942; their son Frederick James was a casualty of war.

 

Living at 181 Main Street Aston cum Aughton in 1881:

In 1891 some of the family have left; George is now helping his father at the farm with George Greaves and Walter Trickett,aged 18, from Wickersley is employed as a Farm Servant. Mary Jane Moore,a widow aged 31 from Whittington Derbyshire, is employed as a servant.

Rose of Eckington

Sarah Rose of Camm House Ridgeway married John Archer of Geer Lane on 11th May 1840. This was the first marriage to take place at Ridgeway Parish Church. Owing to some doubt as to the legality, they were later re-married at Eckington Church.

Stephen Rose, a miner, born 1836 in Bakewell, Derbys, married Mary Havenhand in Sheffield in 1856.

Note: Annie Street was possibly daughter of Thomas Street b.1845 Aston Cum Aughton - a Blacksmith. In 1881 living at Bentley Cottages, Coal Aston
