Rotheram/Rotherham

Bartholomew Rotheram, b.1739 Barnby Dun, (son of Francis), was of the parish of Rotherham when he married in 1765 at Mansfield, Notts. to Anne Lockwood, daughter of Edward Lockwood of Mansfield, shoemaker. Children born in Rotherham:

Bartholomew Rotheram was a member of the Feoffees of the Common Lands of Rotherham. in 1764, he was schoolmaster of the Charity School in Rotherham and lived in the School House. In 1796, Ann Rotheram of Sheffield,was a widow and John Rotheram of Rotherham, was a schoolmaster. Source Doncaster Archives

On 23rd March, 1846, John Bartholomew Rotheram(1807-1871) acquired an Irish Patent for an improved thrashing machine which he invented and manufactured. A millwright and machine maker in 1854 he was living at Canklow House.
