Obituary:Percy Edward Shearman

PERCY EDWARD SHEARMAN, L.R.C.P.Lond., M.R.C.S.E. The death of Percy Edward Shearman ought not to be allowed to pass without some word from us expressive of the great grief which all who knew him will have heard that the long and gallant fight he made against a dire disease has ended. As a student at University College, he was remarkable for the untiring energy with which he devoted himself to the prescribed course of study. He acted for some time as one of the junior demonstrators of anatomy and passed the first examination for the diploma of the Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. As house surgeon at University College Hospital, to Christopher Heath and as clinical Assistant At Brompton Chest Hospital. He was expected to achieve great distinction in his degree but his health rapidly began to fail. He made a voyage to Australia, but without much benefit and, shortly after his return, he went to Davos where he died at the early age of 26

He was the son of Dr. C. J. Shearman of Sheffield, who also died at an early age, and the grandson of the late Dr. E. J. Shearman, F.R.S., of Rotherham.
