Wilson
John Wilson, son of Christopher Wilson (1595-1671) of Broomhead Hall was baptized 4 February 1635, He was of Bromely in 1659, of Skiers Hall in 1684, of Whiston in 1688, of Wortley in 1698. He married in 1656 to Ann daughter of Richard Hey of Bromely near Wortley. He died at Babworth aged 84 and was buried there, 1720. Children:
- Richard, Rector of Babworth died unmarried 1727
- Thomas of Povey, Dronfield died unmarried 1729
- John died unmarried 18 Aug.1688 was at buried at Whiston
- Christopher died unmarried 1837 buried Wakefield
- Matthew of Wortley Forge and Dodworth, ironmaster, died unmarried aged 63, buried Wortley
- Ann m. John Spencer of Cannon Hall
- Susanna m. Thos Cockshutt. Children: Thomas, John, Anne, Elizabeth, Susan
- Catherine m. James Oates of Dodworth
- Mary buried Wortley 1747
On the death of Mathew Wilson in 1739, his nephew John Cockshutt took over Wortley Forge, and later nephew James.
William Wilson, of Whiston, m. Mary Memot, s. 23 Nov 1752 at Rotherham. They had a daughter Ann c.25 NOV 1753 Whiston. They emigrated to Utah. Read More »

The sister of John Wilson's (b.1635) father, Ann Wilson married Thomas Revel of Stannington. Some of the Revel family were of Whiston.
