Living at Broom Road, Broom Cottage, Old Tollbar House, Rotherham:
- Joseph Windle, Head of family, married, aged 52, born at Rotherham. An Iron Moulder.
- Ernest Windle, son, unmarried, aged 21 born Rotherham. An Iron Moulder.
- John Windle, son, unmarried, aged 17 born Rotherham. An Iron Moulder.
- Janet Windle, daughter, unmarried, aged 15 born Rotherham. Servant At Home
- Thomas Windle, son, unmarried, aged 13 born Rotherham
- Elizabeth Windle, daughter, aged 10 born Rotherham
- Willey Windle, Grand son, aged 4
Ernest married Eliza J born about at 1858 at Stone, Maltby. In 1891 they were living at 58 The Hill, Whiston and had a son Charles J. Windle, age 3. By 1911 Ernest was a Farm labourer, Charles , now 23 was a coal miner, daughter Nelly was 19 and John R. Oldfield from Killamarsh, a coal miner. lodged with the family at Chapel Hill.
Everyone knew and respected Charlie Windle, in later years, a handyman, who was employed as a road sweeper and hedge trimmer all round the village.
