Rev. John Cordeaux

Rev. Cordeaux was a graduate of Cambridge St. Catherine's College. He was ordained in 1828 by the Bishop of Lincoln. He was curate of Reston And Tothill, Lincolnshire and married the daughter of Christopher Taylor of Tothill.

Later he had sole charge of two parishes in Leicestershire, Foston and Fleckney, then Anwich and Brauncewell, Lincolnshire.

He was Rector of Whiston for 2 years and resigned the living in favour of Rev. Howard. Afterwards he assisted the Rev. Henry Farish at St. Mary's Sheffield, before moving to St. Silas, Liverpool.

Lord Fitzwilliam presented him to the living at Hoyland where he stayed twenty three years, before accepting the living at Hooton Roberts, where he stayed until his death on 16th August, 1887, aged 85.

His funeral took place at Hoyland Nether.
