History
Hall Close Avenue Estate
Park Avenue was built in 1938-39, just before the War which stopped all new building.
Hall Close Avenue was built during the winter of 1946-47. The locals said they wouldn't last 5 mins but everybody wanted one. The Barefoot family were the first from Melrose Cottages to move. They took the last house on right hand side as you go up from Whiston village - with the garages next to it.
Manor Drive was built in 1950 and Middlefield Drive at the same time.
This photograph was taken in 1954, where Spring Close is now. Fairbank View is being built. Rubble had been tipped to make Hall Close Avenue run through the field to Cowrakes Lane where there was about a 6 ft drop in levels.

Moorlands Crescent was built in 1958.
